I don't know if we've got any other Shadowrun RPG fans here, but this project has got me pretty excited. It's an old-school, turn-based RPG in the Shadowrun universe that looks to be extremely faithful to the source material. They reached their initial funding goal in just 28 hours!

Anybody else interested?

I clicked the link and have been reading about it for about 20 minutes. Never heard of this before, and i'm interested.

The snes and genny games are two of my most favorite games ever and it looks like these guys are continuing where they left off. I'm so excited I'm trying to decide how much money I want to contribute.

After looking at the rewards and thinking it over, I decided to go with the $60 pledge. I also pledged $15 to the Wasteland 2 ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/wasteland-2 ) project. It's another old-school RPG that is a sequel to Wasteland, the RPG that inspired the Fallout series.

did you ever get into the pen and paper game? I only became familiar with the shadowrun universe through the video games. I've been looking for some of the books but have yet to see any at the used bookstores. I like the setting and the concept behind everything and the two old school games are easily some of my all time favorites.

I played the Shadowrun 2nd Edition PnP back in the late '90s. I had a lot of fun with it. I played a foul-mouthed ork running around blowing up parts of Seattle. Good times! I haven't played any since then, but I've occasionally looked at what they've done with the line.

They're up to a fourth edition now, and new books are still being made. See if there's any PnP gamer stores in your area - sometimes they have used RPG books. If you can't find any books locally, you could try to find some good used books on Ebay, Amazon marketplace, or elsewhere online. The books are available for sale in PDF form as well. They've also got a bunch of Shadowrun novels.

As I understand it, up to 3rd edition the Shadowrun books were set in the 2050's, and had a very '80s aesthetic to them. In 4th edition, they updated it to the 2070's, and updated the tech and feel away from the '80s (in particular, there's a MUCH bigger emphasis on wireless networks). I haven't looked at the 4th edition books myself, so I don't know the details.

The Shadowrun RPG videogame they're working on is set in the 2050's era, so it'll be familiar to anyone who's only played the previous videogames or older RPGs.

They've gotten over 1.5 million dollars for the project, and still have a few days left.

The Shadowrun Kickstarter's been a huge success.

Progress is being made on the game. They've got this article on Kotaku: http://kotaku.com/5939858/a-first-look-at-the-characters-and-cityscapes-of-shadowrun-returns/gallery/1

Looks really good so far!

Here is a video of the alpha version of the game.

It's looking great, can't wait to play it!

It released a few days ago just checking to see if anyone's been playing it. I've downloaded it but haven't given it much time yet. it just happened to hit after the steam summer sale so there's a lot of games that's ahead of it in line. It looked cool

I've been hearing some not-so-good things about it. It piqued my interest but I might wait for a sale.

3 sittings and the game is beat.

The story is fantastic

the game too linear and too short. No side missions, super easy except for the second to last run, I had to try it three times, the last run was easier.

with some continued support or community dev this game could be awesome, right now it's just cool for the fanboys.

Dragonfall really put Shadowrun back on track. It even got brought up in the conversation in Game Informer's best of 2014 citing excellent storytelling.
