Neo Geo CD My Gaming Collection - In Progress

I had some downtime today since I am in between projects, so I thought I might catalog some of the items I have in my collection and post them for others to see. Its not complete, as my AES system w/ KOF 2002 is on its way, along w/ Puzzle Bobble / KOF 96 Collection / Puzzled / and KOF 96 (game disc) for the NGCD.

It is surely not a large collection, as I have only started in the last six months or so on the vintage side of things. Ive had the Wii / Xbox 360 for awhile, but the PS3 is a funny story.

I gave it to myself as a 'gift' to quit smoking. Well in reality I was in Wal Mart, really wanted a F***ING pack of cigarettes, and instead ended up buying the PS3 w/ LittleBigPlanet because as I said to myself "god damn it...im walking out of this store with something I want!"

Happy to say I have been a non-smoker for four months, after being almost a 2 pack a day Camel Non-Filter Man!

Controller wise, I try to keep it neat and completely OEM. I hate after market controllers, always have, so everything is 100% OEM. The two NGCD pads were basically 'new w/o box' when I received them, and are in excellent working order

My favorite item in the whole collection is Killing Time for 3DO. My father was kind (and gullible) enough to buy me a 3DO during its launch, much to the ire of my mother. We were definately NOT wealthy, and she knew he wanted to play the system as much as I did.

It was pretty hard to find to find the whole game w/ all the original pack-in content, including the Map of the Matinicus Island and the warranty card as well. The box is in good condition, and while I'd love Mint, I have never found one.

This was the game that made me get into gaming, so It gets its own photo. Here is a link to it in action on Youtube, which is sadly enough shit quality. Some day I will do my own video, since I am a filmmaker and all

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gxizqvZX_Lc

and the soundtrack is still hands down my favorite in any game

My NGCD collection, which I just started about 10 days ago, is my new 'play it all the time' system. I ended up being able to pick it up in its original box w/ manuals. Sure...it cost a bit more and generally it is money 'not used that smartly' but I figured since it was available, why the hell not.

So far, until the rest of the games show up, the only non-burnt (which I either destroy if I dont like, or purchase if I do) is KOF 99 , which I got off egameaddiction.com

So thats about it. Next is a Jaguar w/ AVP and Bubsy :Fractured Furry Tales (not a great game, but I loved Bubsy growing up on the Genesis) and from there possibly a TurboDuo (although Im not sold on actually wanting it).

And I have access to a Centipede cabinet w/ original hardware and game enclosed for free, except the gf is balking at an arcade cabinet in the house. My uncle bought one for his sons years ago, and its now just chilling in his garage @ home. Someday...

thats about it. I know its not the largest collection, and its mostly comprised of current gen games, but for me its a start, expecially since its really only a few months in.

But if anyone has a nice quality Jaguar they want to part with, give me a ring!

hope someone found this entertaining

i did find this entertaining. thanks for sharing :D

its a nice set-up you have, but i am particular to the neo geo and dreamcast. those are your real gems to me but i like the older stuff so i have a bias. neo geo box looks nice too and i think it's worth the extra money it usually affords. do you have boxes for your other systems like the 3DO?

killing time doesnt look too much fun (watched one of those videos), but the box and artwork and the complete package looks nice - you've kept it in great condition. honestly i havent had too much time with the 3DO system, i dont know what games are good or bad on there.

what about when you get your AES? you'll have to keep it on the floor because you have no more room!

i would sell your 360, ps3 or wii and buy more neo geo, dreamcast and 3DO goodies or a turbo duo even ;)

got AES and KOF 2002 today...will take some photos and post em up. Yes...where to put the AES???

Killing Time on those videos looks bad...and frankly maybe it is bad? Just one of those games that grabbed me back in the day and kept hold!

no box for 3do or dreamcast unfortunately.

What games are good for the 3do? eh....none!? lol...it all depends on your definition of good.

It does have the best version of Road Rash though, plus its where Need for Speed got its start.

Its like hiding a few diamonds in a pile of horse shit. Sure you can find them, but alot of searching through crap is needed

Hey man nice start to your collection. Congrats I also quit smoking but I stopped about 8 months ago. I have so much extra money and feel so much healthier.

Nice collection, and it looks like it's in your main room too! Is there a woman around that let you do that?

In my living room is an Xbox 360 and a Saturn. My gaming/office room I have a Dreamcast, Jaguar, Genesis (CDX and 32x), 3DO, and Neo Geo CD. I also have a second 360 in the bedroom (mostly for streaming Netflix).

Also, very nice arrangement. At first glance I did not realize how much stuff you had hooked up!

I haven't really found any compelling games for the 3DO (FZ-10). I have played Need for Speed the most, but that was available for other systems too. I just got a new copy of Gridders and am hoping that is worth playing. Gex is also a good platformer, but again, available for other systems.

As far as the Jaguar goes, keep your eye on eBay, it is very easy to get a brand new in box system for under $100. The CD unit on the other hand... still waiting.

Lastly, Kudos on D2, fantastic title!

some great collections there everyone!

i currently own Neo-Geo CD, Sega Saturn, Gamecube and Dreamcast, although i used to own many others (NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, PSone, PS2, etc.) my game library isn't very extensive, but so far so good. the thing about my collection is that all the games i own, i actually enjoy playing. some people buy a game and keep it for their collection even if they dont play it or like it too much. which i find a little silly ::)

not picking on you maddogpwa, but just as an example:

maddogpwa said:
dragon force( cant get into this game despite everyone else loveing it)
and
firestom thunderhawk 2(truely a crap game)

why would you keep the games then? :lol. unless you have the space or simply like to have them for the sake of collection, i'd say sell them or give them to a person who would might enjoy them more. but hey if i saw all of those saturn games together, i'd say you have a really great collection and great love for the console. i love the saturn too. it's one of the best systems ever to be sure.

however, i do own games for systems i dont have yet so i couldn't play them even if i wanted to :-[

. . .I also have an Atari 2600 with Wireless controllers and about 50 carts I haven't had time to catalog.

There is no way i would have bought firestorm it came packed with street racer and darius 2 i like both thoses games so i thought eh for an extra 2$ ill check firestorm out. Somehow that extra 2$ seems like a rip off now lol.

Dragon force i heard heaps of good things about it got it and kinda thought it was average. Ive never actually sold anything over the net kinda crap like that.

I see ya point i dont understand the buying of games to never play them. I play my aes at least once a day i play my saturn all the time.

A good chunk of my collection I have never played before. Most of it is either from:

A) Having to a buy a "lot" off eBay for just one game

B) Impulse buys at used gaming stores

I don't really plan selling off my unplayed stuff anytime soon. The NGCD is actually one of the few systems I have played every game I own. Plus there is the "collector" in me. I only have 3 more Sega 32x titles to go, then I have a complete set :) And there is no way in hell I am playing all of those games...
