Neo Geo CD How many backgrounds were there in Art of Fighting 3?

How many were there? Were there only 4 stages BUT 3 different backgrounds in those 4 stages (IE like a panoramic view and you would divide it into 3 sections and fight on 1 of the 3 sections).... or were there more than that?
