I was playing some of my other SNK fighter greats (fatal fury, King of fighters) and I realized that I dint own a copy of any Samurai Shodown games. I remember playing them. I think it was the game where there was characters like this big fat guy who would grab you and fart on you but he carried a scythe on a chain. There was another guy who was dressed all in red and had red hair and when he would land he final slash blood would squirt all over him. I was just wondering if anyone knew a website that had character bios and screenshots from Samurai Shodown games and if you could recommend which game (1, 2, 3) was the best?

Samurai Shodown II is the best of the "traditional" SS games. It contains all the characters of the original, plus new ones. You have the option of ducking under projectiles and rolling. Number III and IV are different than the first two in art and play style. Earthquake the guy who farted on you is removed from these two. In SSIII you can power up your gauge Dragon ball Z style. You also have the ability to move before the match starts. I would say a lot of true fans think Samurai Shodown II is the best one. The 5th one is complete trash in my opinion.

SS2 is definitely the best Shodown game, and probably the best fighter available on NGCD IMO. Don't dismiss SS3 though, like so many do, it's actually really good, and the load times are OK too. It even tells you the story (kinda) while it's loading... Wish more games did that.

SS info can be found, among other places, here:

Yea, I like that :) Well, I actually like #3 a lot, I just think #2 is probably the highlight of the series.
