What is the benefit of owning a US system? How rare are they? What types of systems were released in the US? How reliable are they?

Just as reliable as all the top loaders.   You can play the games in English without a mod switch.  Other benefits?  Not too many... It's just a normal toploader but wired for English.  They are getting rare though.

Chaning the system from Japanese to US is very easy, if you have any soldering skills at all.
