From the SSFIV Arcade Test Location.

Rumor has it that there will be 7 new characters Rolento, R. Mika, Elena, and Karin are big contenders.

Adding even more characters to SSFIV? Lame.

How is that even lame? That's a good thing. More characters means more variety. It's like adding maps to a FPS.

Actually, what would make this MORE lame is if we had to buy an entirely new game.

If it's needed it will happen. Super had so much more added to it than Vanilla had.

AGAIN! I'd hate that.

So they re-release the game, without the fun of unlocking characters, another mode or two, and some extra characters, for $40. Then charge MORE money for more characters via download. Just seems greedy to me.

Unlocking characters in fighters is not fun. Unlocking all the characters in Vanilla SF4 was tedious and boring.

10 new characters, new ultras for all characters (for a total of 70+ ultras), new moves for certain characters like Sagat, rebalanced all the characters which makes them ALL viable competitively, new soundtrack, new stages, updated training mode, revamped online and also made button inputs easier making it more beginner friendly. This would never be feasible for DLC. Sure $3.99 for costume packs is kinda pricey but, you don't need them.

To me, unlocking the characters in MvsC2 was the best part of that game. I love seeing who's next to unlock and such. And new moves, rebalancing, stages, and most of the stuff you listed could have been done with an update patch, or as free content.

Except in MvC2 6-8 character are only used because of how overpowered they are.

All that content is alot of hard drive space, which makes it almost impossible to do at this time on console. Without the new characters the rebalance did occur. But, adding the new characters and ultras it's a completely different overhaul of the game.

I believe it could have been done, or in the least, prevented.

I don't see how it was any harm on Capcom's part. Activision releases Call of Duty yearly, yet they sell it every time for $60. Capcom releases a game, SF4, listens to the fans and give them what they want, for $20 less then other companies would. Arksys is doing the same thing with BlazBlue.

And you don't see me defending them, do you? At first I was sold on BlazBlue CS, but after realizing they're taking the lowly Capcom approach, I'm reconsidering.

This is the way fighters have always worked, just now, unlike recent console generations, we have DLC. And I don't see how this is considered lowly. If you don't like it now I would bother with MvC3 or any future fighter cause it'll all be the same.
