Dreamcast / Re: Complete Dreamcast Collection?

It'd probably be one of the easier sets to complete. There's only 247 US titles and nothing I can think of that'll ebay for over $100. Once you get Powerstone 2, Project Justice, Skies of Arcadia, and a few others, you'll be on to collecting cheap games.

I'm not a fighter fan so the dreamcast collection has limited upside for me personally. It does feature some great shooters and two of my most favorite rpgs (grandia 2 and skies of arcadia) but there's a whole lot of outdated sports games (the 2k series was great but is now nearing 2 decades old) and 3rd party games (a la tony hawk) that haven't stood the test of time, not to mention some light gun titles that need crt tvs to play.

With all that said, if I was attempting a complete collection the Dreamcast would be it. If you're limiting it to a US library and was patient (and a little lucky) I'd bet you could do it under $5,000. If everything had to be complete and perfect I'd bet you'll still come in under $10,000. Even if you average paying 25 per game that's around 6,800 bucks. If it's still possible to find things out in the wild you'll do a whole lot better. I've purchased 50 dreamcast games + games, controllers, etc. for under $100 at a yardsale before. One lucky grab like that is 20% of your collection.

I love the Dreamcast and was totally disappointed in its demise. I have never considered going for a complete collection. I have sought out particular games though. I chased down a copy of Capcom vs. SNK at one point. Awesome game on the system.

Micro transactions are taking the incentive out of making great games. Instead the incentive is shifting towards making games that can be easily and successfully monotized.

Lame Game A sells 100 copies @ 60 + 10k microtrans @ .99 = $15,900
Awesome Game B sells 200 copies @ 60 with no microtrans = 12,000

Awesome game was twice as popular but didn't make as much money and used more physical resources. Companies will still have to make great games to keep their brand power up but the focus will undoubtedly shift to games that'll produce more microtransactions with less incentive for said games to actually be great.

We'll still get good games but not nearly as many, at least not in the short run. One could argue that the extra money and fewer resources spent would grow the industy. More games would be released, increasing the odds of getting great games.

The audience isn't growing that fast. The wii and the tablet really inflated numbers by adding a large female component as well as a casual component to the audience. Theres not much more market to grab. Oversaturation will occur, followed by a collapse of the industry.

I'm no economist but when Rolling Stone realeases an article about how micro transactions are ruiening video games it raises concern. We've seen the video game industry go from billions to millions in 1983 (97% loss) so it could happen again.

If there is a silver lining Activision and Nintendo rose from those same ashes. Maybe we'll have to wait for a collapse to spark another renaissance.

Okay.... the price was right.... and my money was right. And really, this is the only way I would have purchased another 3DS system. And it is nice, very good, well taken care of. Got the box and everything. I couldn't be happier. I even slipped in my copy of Majora's Mask N64 here for a cameo appearance.  There are only two tiny light scratches on the top, which I am okay with. The person said there was one dead pixel on the top screen but I have yet to notice. And the head tracker tech really works well if you get into playing your games in 3D. This should have been the launch system and this is the one to own. But I am sure that Nintendo did not fully explore every angle of the new 3D feature and its flaws at that point in time. Seems to have a better camera than any of the other portables in the 3DS and DS family of handhelds. Handles low light better and is sharper. The unit even feels better in your hands as there is a total redesign of the shell. If this had been my first 3DS I would have not looked in purchasing another. Love the Majora theme. Hate to say this, but my launch version 3DS xl will probably catch dust now. Other than the "New" internals which makes the system more powerful, it is the 3DS. And you will not notice the power unless you get a game that takes advantage of it. There is a noticeable difference in some games running a little smoother, but that is not the selling point for this system.

Now I got to get the 3DS Majora's Mask game..

Dreamcast / Complete Dreamcast Collection?

Hey guys! I am thinking about going for a complete dreamcast collection. Not sure if anyone else has tried or is trying, but if you have let me know how it is! Dreamcast was one of my favorite systems at the time of its release and it seems more tangible to complete this set Vs. genesis or playstation. Do you guys think this is worth going for? What less known games are worth trying to hunt down first?

It is possible that they will find a way to get those microtransactions back in the game. They seem bent on going that way. Not a good trend.

This is the exact reason I haven't purchased it yet. SpartanEvolved and I have been considering it, but we're afraid they're eventually going to bring back the microtransactions. We also don't want to have to play forever to unlock one hero.

Any of you got it yet?

Been playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Pretty fun and unique.

Debating whether to get Battlefront II or not.

I know I'm laaaaaaaaate to the party but I've been playing the single player portion of GTA 5 on the PS4. Its pretty much been the only thing I've consistently played lately.
