Neo Geo CD Gameplay Discussion / The Spine Card
« on: May 22, 2009, 05:47:58 PM »
i enjoy having the spine card for games i own. makes everything seem more complete. although, i'd buy a game without one if it's a game i really want.

how do you feel about spine cards and does it affect your purchase of NGCD games?

hi everyone. thought this could be a good topic that we could keep updated to see what everybody is playing  :D

i know some of you are in the process of both playing and writing reviews for the site too.

the most recent NGCD game i played was the one i most recently purchased: Alpha Mission 2 or as it's Japanese name is known ASO II. it's a pretty good overhead shooter and i definitely recommend it  :) it's also one of the earlier Neo Geo games released and i think it holds up pretty well.

Neo Geo CD Gameplay Discussion / Pulstar Soundtrack
« on: April 19, 2009, 03:22:39 PM »
I am a big fan of the music in Pulstar, but i could never find a full list of songs. i decided to upload them from the NGCD version and onto youtube. here's the link to the playlist:

here also is a download link if you want the songs for yourself!

the file is large because it's in .wav format but there isn't any loss in quality  :)

what is your favorite Pulstar tune??

i thought i might as well post this here since there's no chance the game will sell soon.

they are selling a sealed copy of Ironclad for 599 EU, or about $812 right now. does anyone think that is a fair price?? i even contacted the seller about it and asked if he would ever consider going lower on the price and the response i got back was: "No, sorry."  :lol

i guess it's a very expensive and rare game anyways, but the price was rather shocking to me.

Neo Geo CD Gameplay Discussion / KoF '99 in-game art gallery?
« on: March 24, 2009, 07:50:05 PM »
i have a question! in the Art Gallery, and in the Illustrations, 33-44 are empty blank spaces but they have a title on the top of the screen.

i'm wondering if i have to do something to unlock those pieces of artwork or not? for those of you who have KoF '99, do you see them on your game?

Playstation 1 and 2 / What is your favourite Strategy/RPG for PS1?
« on: March 24, 2009, 01:19:00 PM »
mine is probably Arc the Lad II and Arc the Lad I.

honorable mentions go to: Vandal Hearts, Final Fantasy Tactics & Tactics Ogre! there's actually a lot of good ones but i put most of my time into these games i've mentioned.

well i had a couple of friends over in the past week and introduced them Pulstar. they really loved it! they left with a tangible appreciation of the challenging gameplay, sweet graphics and great music. they've never had any exposure to the NGCD or most Neo-Geo games so it felt satisfying to introduce them to it. they weren't even bothered by the load times.

the difficulty really starts to ramp up during stage 3! stage 2 took me a while until i found out an easy way to get through the part near the end of the stage with the pink energy field power-up.

does pulstar have more than 4 stages?

Neo Geo CD Items for Sale by Game Addiction / Neo-Geo games/consoles
« on: March 10, 2009, 11:24:24 AM »
i like the store here and was wondering if there are any plans to get more Neo-geo products in? i was going through some of the old, archived posts and saw that AES and US NGCD systems were available here at one time. i'm sure many games as well, although the current selection is pretty good too.

im sure the market for these items has slowed down and things have become harder to find, but are there any plans to restock US version NGCD games or consoles? how about AES?

Nes, Super Nintendo / NES/SNES cartridge battery life
« on: March 07, 2009, 08:16:45 AM »
so since a lot of these games are becoming 15-20 years old by now, i wonder about the battery life in cartridges which games require battery backed saved files. nearly every snes rpg has this. so does it discourage anyone else from buying classic RPG games knowing the saved files could be erased and you wouldnt be able to save games anymore? not only that, the process of changing a battery isnt exactly as easy as swapping in an new one for the old.

well for me, ive unfortunately been having second thoughts on getting some great games because of this.

Neo Geo CD Gameplay Discussion / Samurai Shodown III
« on: January 31, 2009, 02:49:14 PM »
i need some help on this one. the AI is brutal and psychic. i can even tell when i press a button it has an auto-counter waiting for me no matter i do. it's rather frustrating because i'm stuck against kyoshiro and can't get past him. i even started the game over on level 1 difficulty (beginner mode!) and the computer still has some kind of unfair advantage. it blocks almost everything i try to do.

i've browsed some FAQs, but i also wanted to start some kind discussion because i would love to get further into the game and learn some deeper strategy. if anyone can help me out, i would greatly appreciate it. otherwise, i'll just keep trying i guess because it's still a very fun game. i wish i had another person to play it with! so far ive only got one controller though and friends who arent interested in these kind of classics. it's a darn shame. i like the art direction they took with SS3.

i also have a question about the "special mode" you can turn off and on in the options menu. what does "special mode" do?

thanks everyone.
