It's odd, because I can't get sea-sick, car sick, or air sick. Yet, if you place me on a roller coaster, I will barf the colors of the rainbow.

I am the exact opposite. I get seasick, I get carsick, but I don't get airsick and I love rollercoasters, so long as they don't go backwards.

I don't feel at all sorry for the kid, he was stupid for risking his life over a $10 hat...  If they even try to sue them I'm sure the park would win.  

I LOOOOOVE roller coasters though.  I went to Cedar Point one year and rode all but like 3 or 4 of them.  Before the park closed my dad and I went on the Raptor like 5 or 6 times in a row! =D

Well, the kid definitely knew it wasn't safe to hop a pair of 6-foot fences, and having been on the ride knew how close it gets to the ground. It's just a shame that some people go do stuff that they know is dangerous, come on, the kid HAD to know it was dangerous and went ahead and did it anyway.

The fact that this isn't the first time this kind of accident has occured before (guy climbs into restricted area to fetch a hat, and gets run over by a roller coaster) is what makes it worse.

I doubt this will ever go to trial if his family sues. I mean, sure, the fences could have been 10 feet tall instead of 6. There could have been three sets of fences instead of two. The signs could have been retina-rape green instead of "hazard" yellow. But you know, you can only do so much before an idiot with determination comes along and bypasses the safety barriers.

There are so many variations of the story it's not even funny. Some say that he was getting a hat, some say he was trying to touch the coaster, some say he was trying to touch the people on the coaster. Either way, he's an idiot for doing it.
