Well I had the most unusual day at work today. It was the last day of work at the Marana store before my transfer takes effect. And on last days, it seems that you can tell who was your friend all along and who was a backstabber. Well, I think I fired the backstabber today without even realizing it.
In a shop full of guys, respect us the golden rull. You get it, you give it. And if you give it, but get disrespect in return, things can and will get ugly. Now with the details...
A coworker of mine has for the past few months been saying negative things behind my back, and sometimes overstepping his bounds with the chain of command. Yes, I am his boss. And these past few months I have been patient and have been calmly warning him that I would make an example of him.
This morning he showed up to work attempting to dress like me and acting like a complete idiot. I figured I had 8 more hours with this idiot, so I didn't shwo much interest. That is untill he told me that he had called his wife and she was coming to the shop to take pictures of me and of him and post them on the net to try and ridicule me even more. Seems my patience was missinterpreted as a license to walk all over me. He was wrong. Hi wife showed up, and took one picture of me. Alll I said was, "You're done. Clock out and beat it." He was shocked, and even had the gall to ask what he did wrong. This caused the whole shop to fall apart. He was embarassed in front of his wife and his "friends" in the shop.
It's odd to know that sometimes the only way to get through to someone is to affect their job status.
I did talk to the store manager about it. I made it clear that I didn't care that he was reinstated after i left. I'm in a different city now. I no longer have to deal with his childish antics and his general disrespect for other people. I did tell the manager that I will do my part in making his job advancement is a bit more difficult untill he learns to grow up some more.
There. My rant is over and I now have a big cheesy grin on my face!!
