This one isn't coming from Black Isle (because it closed like 5 years ago) so I don't know how excited I can get over this, even though Bethesda is a good dev.

I'm very hopeful about this game although the sucess or failure really will depend on whether or not the game designers play the previous games an don't try to reinvent the game.

Kids these days what are you going to do though none of them know any of the classics to them if a game was made before 2000 it might as well not had existed at all.

Did anyone else read that GI article about Fallout 3? It seems like they're starting to make the combat more real time and I'm honestly starting to think Bethesda may try to make this just like Oblivion.

Guess it's not as popular as you thought. lol I never thought it was popular and I always thought it was more of a cult game but I didn't realize that small a number of people knew of it...

I borrowed Fallout 2 from a friend (found it in a stack of about 100 CD's) and installed it today. I couldn't get into it at all... maybe I'll try later.

Well I had just gotten into it when my friggin CD drive stopped reading any discs. Until I get my hands on my brother's laptop to play it on something that actually works, I've set up a wireless connection with one of the disc drives in my family's old desktop computer so I have tried playing via that, but because it isn't hard wired, its moving slower than a snail. If only I had a longer ethernet cord.

Boy, I needed this. I finally got my brother's laptop out and I'm trying to get beyond the first few hours of Fallout (I was stuck there when my disc drive went all crazy), but the stupid game keeps getting all glitchy and the screen is constantly going black. It finally pissed me off to the point where I quit, but boy those screenshots sure are purdy. It is coming for the 360. EDIT: Some of those are pretty old. The one of the capitol building has been around for a long time...

No, Fallout 1 and 2 are RPG's that are different from Oblivion and are from an isometric perspective. I haven't even started playing 2 yet (cause I'm still no where near done w/ 1. In fact, I'm still near the beginning of it) so I can't comment on that one yet, but from what I've seen from the first one, its quite different than Oblivion, especially in terms of combat.

I want the skinny on that and Starwars: The Force Unleashed. Does anyone know some certain things:
Is Fallout going to be as open (as has been true to the series) to the point that it will be near Oblivion status?
Is the Force Unleashed going to be better than the hack and slash that jedi Outcast became?
I want more depth to my Starwars games! And an Oblivion Competitor would be wicked. If they played their cards right, it could go xbox live with Multiplayer stuff too! Not like FPS or RTS style, but maybe a hint of MMO/whateverdiablo'sonline"multiplayerverse"iscalled where you can go fight some hive of mutants, or trade weapons in a live Bazaar with one another... Thoughts?

Despite that this isan evil double-post I assure you that the intent is pure in nature as I will be more focused on Fallout3 than star-wars. So here it goes:
Fallout 3. A summary of the amazing series can be summed up with most of life's underworld follies. Sex, Drugs, Booze, Guns, Murder. Ah but let us not forget that this RPG brought us an array of plot lining with Post Apocolyptic mayhem, Mutants on a rampage, a lack of government, and Aliens, not to mention warring factions. In the original 2 games ( as will be with the third ) you will be a vault dweller. In the first two you were searching for the holy G.E.C.K. or Garden of Eden Creation Kit. Or the holy hand gernade of Antioch( I'm not even kidding...lol ) But the G.E.C.K. is supposed to help a colony of dwellers survive and thrive outside of the vault despite the harsh radiation of the land. Along the way you encounter many heros willing to quest with you as long as your disposition is aligned with their own. Durning your travels you get caught up in several different adventures and end up saving the U.S.A. or what's left f it at least. In tactics, you are a soldier initiate for the mighty Brotherhood of Steel. A faction of tech saavy a-holes who consider themselves the law. and again, you end up helping the U.S.A. prolong is certain enevitable doom.
So I say, after the previews and with the prior knowledge of the series. I admit I am hoping that this might be something that will set a new standard. To be able to fully explore your world in Fallout 3 is a very attractive idea, because it as a rule will hold surprises around every corner. I wish to know more if anyone has heard anything. And please if you would like to discuss the past games and aspirations for 3 I would love to chat. Soemtimes it can take me a day or two to get back here but I will make it as often as possible.
Discuss....

Fallout really is an awesome series (even though I got stuck under an hour into the second ), but I'm worried about exactly what Bethesda will do with the series. Fallout was always very open-ended, like Oblivion is, but it isn't the same thing, and more and more, I'm getting the feeling Bethesda has an Oblivion clone in the works. None the less, I still can't wait to get my hands on Fallout 3, and I can only hope Bethesda makes an entry, worthy of the other Fallout games.

But what about Unleashed? I'll sell a kid for a 360 when Unleashed hits the shelves. Uh, I mean kidney. Yeah. Anyone seen anything more than artist renditions of fight scenes?

I'm taking a wait and see mentality on that one too. It could turn out to be just another hack and slash, or it could be absolutely brilliant.

I'm going with brilliant. Hack and slash wouldn't involve all those crazy things you can do with The Force. You can get really strategic with it, I bet.

Yeah, they're promising all this limitless interaction with the Force, but I'll believe it when I see it.

At least the AI and environment reactions seem like it'll be like that.

In regards to Fallout 3 : We can only pray that it isn't oblivion with a face lift. I would hope that their weapon options are vast and the NPC are more colorful than oblivion though.
On Unleashed : I have been awaiting this forever but from the action screens I am not at all impressed. sure early runs and images are just a precursor to the final product but even then it looked as if the controlling would be wonky. And my god if it is a hack and slash I would be cross with lucas arts. lol.
