comments: Art of Fighting seems to have always been
a very experimental game series for SNK. The first dealt with graphic
zooming and power charging; the second game dealt with extreme character
detail (such as facial expression ect.) and background art, the third
(the most experimental of them all) deals with motion captured fighters.
Unfortunately, SNK failed at this one. AOF3 is a very boring, unbalanced
fighting game with lame characters and awkward controls. Graphics and
sound are nice. Characters however, move slow and the new super simple
combo system seems designed for 10 year olds. As mentioned before, characters
are insanely unbalanced meaning your never going to have a fair fight
in the 2 player mode, and in 1 player mode, the CPU is way too difficult
(cheap) as in AOF2. On the Neo Geo CD, another flaw is added to the mix:
the load times. Before every match the game loads way too long, and while
in games like Samurai Shodown and King of Fighters it was acceptable,
the game is so bad here that the load times just aren't worth it. One
thing the Neo Geo CD version has is a neat little color edit feature where
you can custom design the colors on characters to your liking. A neat
little feature, but definitely does not fix a busted game. AOF3 is for
hardcore Neo Geo CD collectors only.
